Fishing Seasons

Spring
In the Spring, large schools of wahoo and yellowfin tuna begin their journey's north lingering off our coast through the summer.

SummerSummer Catch of Wahoo, Mahi, and Blue Marlin
May through early July, Charleston is known for it large concentrations of adult Mahi-Mahi (dolphin fish).  The arrival of Mahi invite our largest and most prestigious gamefish, blue marlin.  Blue marlin are the most prestigious gamefish that swim the Atlantic.  Over the past years we has released blue marlin of weights in excess of 600 lbs.  We strongly encourage the release of fish that are not going to be consumed and mandate the release of all billfish.

As the season progresses into July the Billfish bite in Charleston becomes world class.  Multiple Charleston Swordfishopportunity each day at blue marlin, white marlin and sailfish has put Charleston in the world spotlight over the last three years.  Our best trip of 2006 we hooked 5 blue marlin over 200 lbs and 2 sailfish.  Our billfish catch rate per trip for 2006 had a 90% success rate on full day trips.

Fall
September is our peak month for king mackerel and  sailfish.  October and Charleston Fishing SailfishNovember often provide shots at 3-10 sailfish per day.  Usually allowing the  release of 3-5 sailfish.  The boat to release the most in  2006 was the Major Motion with 22 sailfish releases in a day.

Winter
During December and January we operate out of Morehead, NC targeting giant bluefin tuna.  The tuna school within site of land and provide the highest Giant Bluefin Tuna Fishing Charlestonsuccess rate in the Atlantic.  The average tuna is 250-550lbs.  This is a battle of will between angler and the strongest fish that swims.  Not for the faint of heart, ultra heavy tackle and battles often lasting hours.
